QEDm - effective enterprise electronic document management

QEDm is a functionally rich electronic document management system that is easy to use and quick to implement. Using standard web technologies with a wide range of back-end databases, QEDm is highly scalable and can even be run on a distributed model. Able to store documents direct from a scanner, QEDm will also retrieve attachments from emails, process barcodes and other graphic devices and use third party corporate databases to populate indexing information and provide hooks to other corporate systems.

With document management being a very acceptable way to reduce the overall cost of storing documents (where retrieval costs are typically significantly higher than the storage costs), QEDm aims to further reduce the costs by providing a tool that is both affordable to license and exceedingly inexpensive to deploy and learn. With a highly intuitive user interface, QEDm can be up and running in minimal time and widely deployed with minimal training.

Security is a significant factor with any document management system and QEDm provides document, project, role and user based security with user based overrides available wherever necessary. Thus the system can be set up with granular control over who can see what and when. A full audit trail will record who has seen or modified information pertaining to any document.

A hot folder system has been implemented to enable documents to be uploaded to QEDm and actions taken within QEDm. Server directories can be set to have actions: pulling attachments from an email address via pop/imap; checking documents for barcodes; running OCR on images; using email header values, barcode values or values embedded within a document to obtain indexing information from JDBC databases; and performing document conversion or enhancement.

Should you want your document management system distributed over many different locations then QEDm can be set up with a single database but multipoint file repository and hot folder system. Using this technique, a single instance of QEDm can be used to manage documents spread world wide - if necessary cloud storage such as S3 can be introduced so as to run QEDm as a service.
